Title: Food and Toy Drive

Grades: 9 & 10th

Type: Local philanthropy and poverty study

Academic Goals: 

(Social studies) Understand how poverty impacts the citizens of Oshkosh.

(Leadership) The Food and Toy drive project allowed students to communicate an effective message through social media in addition to facilitating productive group processes virtually.

(English) Closely read and interpret informational texts that illustrate current poverty data and compose communications (written and verbal) to raise awareness about poverty and promote the event.

Description: Even though our society is experiencing economic growth and low unemployment, poverty and its impact on our youth are real and prevalent. We will collaborate with the Oshkosh Fire Department and Salvation Army in their Annual Toy and Food Drive.
